Our Story
We are Teac Mor ("chawk mor" -- it's Gaelic) Vineyards. We are thrilled you've stopped by to learn a little about who we are.
We are a family of farmers growing and bottling the most beautiful expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes possible. We are devoted to partnering with the soil our vines are rooted in and the ideal climate of the Russian River Valley.
Every aspect of our winery includes family members. You're as likely to see us in the fields as you are making deliveries. We adhere to a philosophy of balance and simplicity in the vineyard and the winery.
Our vineyards are bio-dynamically farmed, and our vines are kept in balance. Doing so results in perfectly focused flavors drawn from the soils. The passion we pour into our wine is evident in every sip. Producing supremely food-friendly, Burgundian-style wines, we aspire to have a relationship with every customer. This is personal for us.
People often ask us about the meaning of our label. Teac Mor is Irish for ‘Big House’. The name pays tribute to our father’s home in Ireland, which was called the Teac Mor.
His home earned this designation for two reasons. First, though modest by today's standards, it was the only two-story structure in his village of Glenmaddy. Second, it was around the home's fireplace that many big conversations within the community took place.
His parents, our grandparents, were both people whose counsel was sought after. They had each migrated away from Ireland and then returned. Meeting and marrying one another, their time abroad gave them progressive attitudes and worldly perspectives. They raised their children to be committed to leaving all they touched in life better than they had found it.
As for our beautiful golden angel Teaca ("Tee-sha"), she is our symbol of elegance and beauty. We believe you’ll find elegance and beauty inside our bottles too.
